Why join LAMAS?

Because llamas and alpacas are so cool that you will want to learn more about them, their care, breeding and showing.  Because you will want to become a part of the solution...not a part of the problem by educating and mentoring other people who want to learn about these marvelous creatures.  Click on the Membership Info button to learn more about what your membership includes.

Hey!  Don't you have any funny, touching, heartwarming or just plain beautiful pictures that you would like to share with the camelid community?  Each month a new picture will be selected and featured on the homepage along with a link to your farm website and/or email address.  Come on now, we know you have pictures worth sharing!  Send them to gdumas@hughes.net .

Thank you for your support.

Here is a beautiful photo that exhibits the bond between these beautiful four leggers and our equally beautiful two leggers.  This was submitted by Anita Eckstrom of Three Hawks Alpacas, who is so new, her application is still in the mail.  Here is her story...

This is a picture of out beautiful little female alpaca that was born August 22, 2007. She had an infection in utero and could not stand.  Our vet Dr. Cheryl Powell of Powellsville Pet Clinic treated and X-rayed her rear legs and found an infection on the bone at the knee on the left side.  She has had to stay in the house in a very small area so as not to irritate her knee. She is super friendly and loves everyone.  This is a picture of my grand daughter, Jamie, with Ghost Dancers Callie.  She is so appealing that she will always be with us.

Llamas and alpacas are in the same animal genus, Lamas, therefore when we refer to the ONE "L" lama, we are talking about both groups of animals.  Our organization LAMAS is devoted to the welfare of all "lamas".
